What's Happening at University
Baptist Church 2-16-12
?????????In worship this
Sunday, February 19, Pastor
will speak on "Hide
and Seek". It is based on scripture from Job 28:1-11. Mining is a gradual process resulting in the finished production of raw materials. Iron ore is extracted from the earth for use elsewhere. Great toil is involved in retrieving the base element. If left at the mouth of the mine and never refined, all of the effort in gathering is rendered null. Removal from earth is the first step, but not the only step in the life of mined materials. Removal from the world is the first step, but not the only step in the life of discipleship. Salvation is Christ's mining of our souls from the world in which we are embedded. Once saved however, we then have to be refined. We have to know, worship and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Conforming to the image of Christ is a gradual process. We may be changed into the finished product of Christ's likeness through the power of the Holy Spirit. ____________________________________________________________________________ Sunday School classes for all ages meet at 11:30 AM. Rick & Anita Gutierrez are based in Durban, South Africa. They are developing sustainable, replicable and holistic lay health ministries to address common health problems such as HIV, diabetes, malaria, high blood pressure and other nutrition related diseases. The doctors along with other trainers equip health builders to screen, educate and refer for these conditions. Health builders lead on-going health classes with video and Bible studies. The capacity of health builders to support themselves through gardening is strengthened. Local churches or Christian organizations work alongside the health builders to establish locally sustainable health ministries. They write: In this new year we will work to integrate income generation initiatives into our health builder program. Forty percent of South Africans live on $2 or less a day. Our aim is to set up health builders in locally sustainable health builder ministries where they are able to minister holistically to the needs of their neighbors. Thank you for your faithfulness and commitment to make the long-term investments that are needed for excellent Kingdom return. o Praise God for how He has multiplied the offerings of time, talent and treasure this last year to transform lives. "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Luke 10:2 Please pray for God to raise up workers to help with the training of health builders in medical screening, health education and Bible study as well as income generation projects.
